    Recently, I challenged myself to the challenge of reading 300 books, knowing that I wasn’t going to meet the goal; I did want to have fun trying. Imagine telling a classroom of middle schoolers that you were going to read 300 books. Some were impressed. Most were dumbfounded. I saw a couple of terrified faces.

    This week was back to school. I had decreased some responsibilities, and with that, I was able to fill in my new time with reading. I finished two books this week. Both were from different genres. Both were excellent.

    The Love Affair: Magazines

    Flipping through a magazine provides a similar sensation to the act of flipping a page in a book or finding a lovely dress or eating a nourishing meal. The photos, format, and text—the smell—all enrapture me in a mindful trance of taking in what’s on the page.
